Motherwort
Motherwort should be taken at the time you need it, not over a long period of time (or it will simply stop working). You know you are ready to take motherwort, when you're hiding in the bathroom to take a deep breath. Or the kids are crying and you've decided to join the wailing. Motherwort is the herb you take when you need a little mothering yourself. It's like a big hug when you've completely exhausted your mommy nerves.
One capsule or half the suggested dose on liquid tinctures is usually adequate to ease your mind and still keep you alert. The more you take, the more the sedative component will work, so be aware that overuse will make you very sleepy. This herb is traditionally used as safe while breastfeeding, but should not be taken while pregnant because it can cause contractions.
The taste of this herb is very bitter, so most like it in capsule or tincture form. If you make your own capsules, pair it with powdered Cramp Bark for a great combo that will help ease afterbirth or period pains.
